How to manage regrets?

From Thinking Fast and Slow

People want to avoid regrets and make decisions to stay away from them. But do our emotions cloud our economic sense?

Could you use a less safer, cheaper product and not feel uneasy for accepting slightly more risk? Such as buying generics than branded medicine.

The idea is that regrets are unavoidable as our resources (e.g money) are finite. Each decision has some risk and has the regret of ‘Oh I wish I had not chosen that’. But you can choose not to think about the future regrets and rather make the decision.

In reality, things are less worse than imagined. And regrets are no different.
